May 31st Disembark and travel by train to London
Had to be out of our room by 8 am, some people had to be off the ship starting at 7:30! Had a last breakfast in the dining room and then headed off the ship to collect our luggage and took a cab to the train and set off to London.
Note there is a train strike here today so some lines are not running, our original train was not running but were assured we could just take a different line. So the train trip was a bit odd. When we put in our code the tickets that came out said adult standard class, Although our paperworks said first class. No one at the station thought we could use our Victoria station tickets for another location but since no management around they said just get on. Once on board there was no place to put our luggage so had to put it on the seats to keep out of aisle, those around us were not impressed but we ignored them. It was not the most comfortable ride as we had to hold onto bags to make sure they did not fall. But in the end the train ride was fine only 90 minutes. We easily found a black taxi to bring us to hotel, always have so much fun with taxi drivers here. No shortage of opinions with these guys.
note to all traveling to England, they have recently changed the money and the old stuff is no longer legal tender, no one will accept it. Fortunately we only had £40 of the old money from our last trip.
Yes that is the palace in the background. Waiting to hear when Chuck and Camilla can squeeze us in for a drink the flag is up so we know they are home.
Had a wander around and a pub lunch. Ended up having Thai for dinner right next to hotel. Hotel is in a lovely family neighbourhood so small shops and restaurants all around.
